Again showed his versatility and talent with a seamless transition from wing to fullback in 2007. A genuine speedster Merritt has always been a noted tryscorer and his defence has moved on in leaps and bounds. The NRL’s leading tryscorer in 2006 is a reliable goal kicker too. Suffered a season ending knee injury in round 24 against the Tigers which shattered his dreams of playing finals football with the Rabbitohs in 2007. A fate sure to spur him on in 2008.
